The Choquequirao Trek Imperial is perfect for those looking to get away from the crowds or who are looking for something other than Machu Picchu during their trip. The trek takes you to the sister city of Machu Picchu, Choquequirao (The Cradle of Gold) which sits high above the Apurimac Valley.

Choquequirao Trek Imperial : A trek to this Incan citadel, as opposed to it’s more famous sister site and the largely oversubscribed Inca Trail; is to appreciate the engineering and serenity of the Apurimac Valley where it is located. Considerably less frequented, as a route, this trek gives you a sense of being on a trail where you can appreciate the effort the Incans went to; to build this particular fortress. On a scale comparable with Machu Picchu, the site is impressive in itself; but arguably more impressive is the setting of the valley and the landscapes that are ever present along the way.

DAY 3: CHOQUEQUIRAO
Today we have the whole day to explore all the corners of the Choquequirao citadel. We will have guided tour of this amazing place once inhabited by Incas including recently rediscovered Llama Sector. You will be taken to the ceremonial water fountains – the best place in Choquequirao to see condors and snow covered peaks around. After enjoying lunch in this beautiful scenery you will have time to explore the place by yourself.
